Das Amgen Scholars Program an der Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München

In diesem Video geben ehemalige Teilnehmende Einblicke in das Amgen Scholars Program und berichten von ihren Erfahrungen.

Florina Abazi: “My Name is Florina Abazi. My main motivation for applying for the Amgen Scholars Program was the opportunity to work in a worldclass research center, where I work alongside skilled scientists whose expertise I can learn greatly from and be able to participate in research for an interesting project.”

Mateusz Gotowiec: “Hi, I am Mateusz, I come from Poland. Over the last three years I became very much interested in science and wanted to make sure that this is the right path for me.”

Laura Bartkova: “Should I say hi or no hi? Hi, my name is Laura. I study biochemistry at King’s College London. The main reason that I applied for this program is that I really wanted to fully immerse myself into a real-world research environment.”

Alessandra Montellato: “Hi, I am Alessandra, I come from Italy and I study medicine in Pisa. I applied to the program because I knew it would be a great opportunity to find out how the world of research goes and works and to get some hands-on experience.”

Elba Martínez Figueras: “I am learning a lot not only from a practical point of view but also, I am learning how to be a scientist and that’s one of the takes I am most glad for being in this program.”

Laura Bartkova: “One thing I really like about my project is its role in link to disease. It could lead to potentially novel therapeutic strategies to cure once untreatable diseases. And most importantly, I feel like I know how to create a project now and experiment as well as how to make a poster which will be an important skill when I pursue my PhD and my master’s and so on.”

Valentina Sjenicic: “After visiting the Amgen facility here in Munich, I realized that it is actually very important and how exciting it can be from day to day. So, I still kind of want to stay in academia but I am also keeping my mind pretty open to an industry job, too.

Valentina Sjenicic: I can’t force enough the word ‘networking’ here, but not necessary networking for a job opportunity but more likely to hear about opportunities from other scholars, from other people that are here. So, I would definitely recommend to everyone to try because I wouldn’t change this experience for anything in the world.”

Oskar Markkula: “At LMU we are not talking about just a few labs, we are talking about full departments that only focus on biology and I think this very rich scientific environment was ultimately what brought me here. It was my first choice when selecting a master’s program and a PHD program after my undergraduate program. I am very happy to be here now.”
